You’ve been in your house for months now and you’re sick of it. We understand. However, you’re not quite ready to put it on the market yet. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be taking steps to prepare your home to sell. Tackling this list now, before you hit the market, will make the whole process easier and will make your home show better to potential buyers.
How to Get Your Home Ready to Sell
- De-clutter. This is absolutely the first step to preparing your home to sell. Start with your closets first. Clean them out and decide what is staying and what’s going. Then set a plan to tackle a room a week. We promise that this process will be rewarding in the long run.
- Finish that ‘To-Do’ List. It’s time to complete that list of small items around the house that you pushed back from weekend to weekend. Leaky faucets, creaking doors, crayons on the wall. All of these small items create a negative impression for any buyers. You want to minimize these as much as possible.
- Time for a Deep-Clean. Now that you’ve de-cluttered and completed those odd jobs, it’s time to clean. You must rid your home of all dust bunnies and cobwebs. Now is a good time to get your kids involved to earn their allowance.
- Paint! We think that this is the funnest part of all. Who doesn’t love the satisfaction of painting a room? You’ll want to choose a neutral color. This creates a clean palette for the buyer’s imagination to run wild as they picture themselves in their new home.
Congratulations. Once you’ve completed these items, your home will be picture ready! Your next step is to give us a call, so that we can prepare a home valuation for you and get you set up to start searching for your next home.
